Last week, I saw a truck from the old family business getting on the highway. I was stuck at a red light, but then got on the highway myself and proceeded to get the RAV4 up to around 85 mph in order to catch up.
Once I caught up, yes I whipped out my iPhone and took a few pics. Still much safer than texting or tweeting. I miss the old company.
Moeller-Reimer Company was founded in 1949 by my grandfather Walter Reimer and two other gentleman. They started building windows in their basements and garages. My grandpa was the original Basement Entrepreneur! My grandpa even designed the “M-R” logo – I wonder what vector design software he used. 🙂
The company was sold 5 or so years ago, but they kept the name. I don’t hear as much about the business anymore, but when I see a truck with my last name plastered on it, I am reminded of all the hard work my grandpa and uncles put into the business.
No takeaway from today’s post – just a little nostalgia for me.
How cool!! I steal my mom's post-it notes sometimes because I like seeing her personalized “from the desk of the Dr.” on them. Also, everything I know about what I do can be traced back to my dad. He tried the basement entrepreneur thing back in the late 90's with a web design business and pretty much propped me up in front of Photoshop 4.0 in that time so that I could edit my Geocities layouts and OpenDiaries with his gigantic Wacom tablet. I love family pride!
That is so cool. Bring back Geocities!!!
