Speaking

I enjoy speaking publicly about my book Happywork, change management, workplace fulfillment and happiness, social media, personal branding, civility in the business world, changing careers, and following one’s passion.

HAPPYWORK – This talk focuses on the lessons I learned while writing the book Happywork (and there were many!). These lessons can and should be applied to our everyday lives, and can be used to improve our businesses, as well.

CHANGE MANAGEMENT – Change is life’s greatest challenge. Most of us hate it, work arduously to avoid it, and feel nauseated while it’s happening to us. Businesses and the people working for them are no exception. History shows we’ve resisted the most important changes of all time, and yet, when we look back, we laugh at ourselves for ever having done so. Let’s embrace (good) change, and make great things happen in our world.

WORKPLACE FULFILLMENT AND HAPPINESS – Let’s take some of the lessons learned in Happywork and apply them in the real world. What can we do to change the culture of a business?

SOCIAL MEDIA – why use it, how to use it, stories of its effectiveness, and tales of great misfortune at the hands of it. I like to discuss the intersection of social media and business goals, which by the way extend far beyond simply juicing sales. I try to give a bigger-picture perspective to my audiences. I don’t always give you the answer (which is quite impossible, as everyone in the audience has a different question.) Rather, I try to get my audiences thinking in a certain direction, which is similar to what I do with my clients. If I can train them to think, they can provide themselves the answers to their own questions.

PERSONAL BRANDING – using online and offline tools to define who you are.

CIVILITY IN THE BUSINESS WORLD – this is how great teams are built.

CHANGING CAREERS / FOLLOWING ONE’S PASSION – I made the mother of all career changes, going from a CPA to a social media and marketing executive.
