RFT Announces Its 2011 Web Awards, And I’m Freaking Out Just A Little Bit

Rizzo Tees Wins Best Twitterer Award

The Riverfront Times announced its 2011 St. Louis Web Awards this evening, and I was a bit freaked to find that I won in the category of Best Twitterer in St. Louis. A link to the page where I’m mentioned is here. I saw a tweet from @IShotGuyDebord congratulating me, and I wasn’t sure what it meant. Then I remembered the RFT awards, and I booted up RiverfrontTimes.com. I was honestly really nervous as I pulled up the story and scanned through the results!

Thank you to the Riverfront Times, the judges that votes for me, my friends at Scorch, and big big thanks to Falk Harrison for recently bringing me on staff. And shoutouts to fellow nominees @CosmosGirl, @Tojosan, @MayorSlay, and @Nelly_MO. All are deserving of this for sure. Nelly, I’ll see you at the awards ceremony at The Firebird.

What does this all mean?

I’m thrilled to no longer be working in accounting, and I’m finally happy with what I’m doing with my work life. When it comes to winning awards like this, the fact that I enjoy what I do can’t hurt. Are buzz words like transparency and passion getting tired? If they are for you, that’s OK. They remain important in social media, and really really important in my life, so I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing and let the chips fall where they may. I am enjoying the hell out of myself.

Time for celebratory wine!

p.s. In reference to the RFT story, yes, I DO work, but I take Twitter breaks instead of smoke breaks. 🙂

Get More Twitter Followers

Last week I wrote a new post for the Scorch Agency blog called “Get More Twitter Followers.”  I’m not actually sure everyone got to the end, because I started off the article all wrong on purpose. And some people thought I was serious.  I like to make poignant observations with humor and sarcasm – what can I say?

Rest assured the second half of the blog post actually provided useful information on how good tweeters build a Twitter following.  Have a read, and let me know what you think.

New Post On Scorch Agency Blog – Twitter And Customer Service

Over on Scorch Agency’s blog, I wrote about the high level of customer service that many companies are providing using Twitter.  The real question is… why can’t companies provide this level of customer service across all platforms? Why are the people on the phones not taking care of problems in the same manner?  Read the post and you’ll see what I mean – after contacting Adobe via Twitter, they fixed the problem in two hours.  I wish our three previous phone calls would have done the trick.  Nevertheless, kudos to Adobe for helping us out.

New Post On Scorch Agency Blog – Imo’s Pizza

I’ll be spending more time over on Scorch Agency’s blog (as it’s my job to do so!).  I will still be blogging here on TBE from time to time with Rizzo Tees and entrepreneurial musings. But I’ll also do a post like this where I direct you to my latest Scorch blog post.

My latest post is “Imo’s Pizza – The Store Launch Beyond Compare.”  Seeing a major St. Louis institution locating downtown has me very excited.  Imo’s is a powerful St. Louis brand, and the blogpost has a great deal of advice on ways to pimp out the upcoming downtown store opening.  Go on over and have a look, and thanks again to everyone for reading The Basement Entrepreneur.
